Shapesigns is a word combining shapes and signs. It is a physical tool kit for people to design signage. This work aims to encourage people to create and explore graphic design by making signs.
The kit includes two grid systems sets and a shapes stickers set. One grid system is for designing the text; and the other one is for creating the pictograms. Both grid systems are printed on acetate so that the user can overlay the grids and combine the pictograms and texts to become a sign. The see-through material allows the signs to merge into any situation and environment. While the stickers provide a simple and straightforward method for the universal audience to create pictograms and letters directly.
